TEA VASE – 张欣悦 Zhang Xinyue

A small vase traditionally accompanying tea preparation, crafted by an artist from China.

A beautiful, modest little flower vase, about 8 cm tall. Its wide opening allows it to hold plenty of blooms, and it can even be used to store wooden tea‑making accessories, as shown in the last photo.

A flower vase is a traditional companion to tea preparation, highlighting the beauty of both the ceramics and the tea itself, drawing attention to its natural character. Tradition holds that tea should always be accompanied by an odd number of flowers. We suggest taking this advice to heart — it’s said that an even number of flowers might cause the tea to spill 😉

Brought back from our 2025 journey to China, specifically from an artist in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan.

Both vases are handmade on the wheel, and if you look closely you can see the throwing marks. As is always the case with hand‑crafted ceramics, they are not identical, though the differences between them are barely noticeable.
