This gaiwan has several intriguing distinctive features. The first thing that catches the eye is the beautiful ashen black that shapes the color of its outer walls. The interior is covered with a network of crackle, those delicate underglaze fractures that are highly valued across Asia. Inside the gaiwan you will also notice a single, subtle black speck, unique and one of a kind, reminiscent of the mark on Marilyn Monroe’s face.
It is handy and practical, pouring with a beautiful strong stream, and the lid slides smoothly across the surface of the vessel, so you do not need to lift or reposition it before pouring, you simply tilt it.
Capacity 130 ml, in our opinion the most universal size for tea brewing vessels.
Artur Rej crafts artistic teaware in his studio nestled in the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park, where he also runs pottery workshops. His ceramic style is truly distinctive—his pieces are known for their cheerful, rich colors and soft, rounded forms that invite touch as much as admiration.
