TEAPOT DOBIN #1 – ARTUR REJ

A large, beautiful teapot for brewing tea, complete with a bamboo handle. Fully handmade.

This teapot is a real piece of art — a beautiful Dobin, the classic Japanese style of large teapot with a bamboo handle, made especially for teas like genmaicha and hojicha.

It was made entirely by hand by Artur Rej, a well‑known Polish ceramic artist specializing in teaware.

Soft shades of burnt orange clay peek through the teapot’s gentle mint‑green glaze, giving it a warm, glowing depth. A muted black — one of Artur’s signature touches — wraps around the lower part of the pot, lifting it visually from the surface and adding a sense of lightness. Even though the pattern is abstract, it instantly brings to mind a restless sea or a landscape of soft rolling hills.

The teapot is full of tiny speckles and spots that are really pleasant to look at. Its shape is harmonious and easy on the eyes: the classic low Dobin form with a wide, dove‑like spout. Inside, it has a strainer made of 14 small holes, able to catch even the finest tea leaves.

Capacity: 444 ml. Pouring speed: about 12 seconds.

It’s marked with the artist’s signature on the bottom.

The teapot is fully glazed, so it doesn’t affect the taste of the tea, and it can be washed in the dishwasher — though of course it’s best to remove the bamboo handle first, and luckily it comes off very easily.

Artur Rej crafts artistic teaware in his studio nestled in the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park, where he also runs pottery workshops. His ceramic style is truly distinctive—his pieces are known for their cheerful, rich colors and soft, rounded forms that invite touch as much as admiration.
