Description
A classic Japanese stem tea, usually only produced from high-quality sencha and gyokuro. The edition we have on offer for you is composed of stems and leaves from various high-grade sencha cultivars from the Kagoshima prefecture, resulting in a rich and balanced infusion. Karigane, also known as kukicha, is a wonderful option for drinking later in the day, as well as for younger fans of tea; due to the large quantity of stems found here, the tea is relatively low in caffeine. It is also a great everyday tea and an alternative for the higher-priced sencha. It is one of our favourites from Japan, and we hope that it will be to your liking.
Just a small amount of stems and leaves provides a sweet, slightly grassy and nutty infusion. However, for the best experience, we recommend dropping in a bit more tea, to give it real depth of flavour and a fuller-bodied infusion. For enthusiasts, we also recommend experimenting with cold brews. Karigane is simply a graceful tea with a diverse flavour, standing up well to any water temperature. A perfect entry to the world of Japanese teas!
