A gaiwan — literally a “cup with a lid” — is one of the most traditional vessels for brewing tea. Learn more here.

This gaiwan has an interesting, very rough surface full of chamotte, those coarse little clay grains that make it genuinely pleasant to the touch. The shape itself is wide and open, quite universal, though in our opinion especially good for brewing lighter teas. Inside, it is coated with a smooth, glossy glaze, and around the inner rim runs an intriguing snake‑like line in a light, minty color.

Capacity about 130 ml.

It fits comfortably in the hand of someone with slightly broader palms, and you can see two fingerprint marks from the artist on the outer wall. It was made entirely by hand.

Artur Rej crafts artistic teaware in his studio nestled in the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park, where he also runs pottery workshops. His ceramic style is truly distinctive—his pieces are known for their cheerful, rich colors and soft, rounded forms that invite touch as much as admiration.
