A handmade matchawan — a bowl for preparing matcha — created by Kraków-based artist Marysia Graff.

These matchawans have a rounded, flat bottom that makes it easier to whisk matcha without clumps. Their tall, gently curved walls help keep the tea from spilling while mixing. They also feature a small spout, which makes it easy to pour your matcha — perfect for drinks like matcha latte — but it doesn’t get in the way if you want to sip straight from the bowl, just like in Japanese tradition.

This version of the bowls features soft, creamy white tones, with a gentle streak of muted green on one side. They’re slightly taller and less rounded than the brown variant. Beneath the glossy white glaze, hints of the clay’s natural brown color peek through—especially along the rims—giving the bowls a beautiful, earthy character. You can clearly see the marks left by hand throwing on the potter’s wheel, adding to their artisanal feel.

Since each matchawan is entirely handmade, every bowl may vary slightly in color and shape.

The bowls are fully glazed, which means they won’t affect the flavor of your tea and are dishwasher-safe.

Size: approximately 10 cm wide and around 6 cm tall.

Capacity: up to 250 milliliters, though it’s most comfortable to prepare between 100–150 ml of matcha.

(Each piece may vary slightly in size and color, due to its handcrafted nature.)
